What is your favorite team to watch?
USWNT. I love how competitive the roster is. Any time they play, the bench is just as strong as the starting XI. I’ve been watching them play since I was 8 years old and enjoy watching the veterans lead and the rookies impress!
Who is your favorite player(s)?
Becky Sauerbrunn. Making the National team didn’t come easy for her. As the captain, she exemplifies leadership and class. I’ve had a few opportunities to see her play and got to meet her last summer. She is incredibly humble and grateful for her career and fans.
What is your coaching philosophy?
Especially at the younger ages, I think it is so important that players enjoy the sport they are playing and develop a passion for the game. If they love what they do, they will want to put the time in to improve. I do my best to create a positive environment for my players and make every training session challenging with an element of fun! As coaches, we take the responsibility of developing our players to be outstanding soccer players, but good people as well. As a coach, I acknowledge that I am a role model and play an important part in the development of players on and off the field.
Tell us about your favorite personal soccer memory (coaching or playing).
As a player, one of my most memorable moments was during my senior year at Wingate University when we won the programs first ever SAC Championship and earned a place in the NCAA tournament. It was a huge accomplishment, especially since we beat our rival in the final!
One of my most recent coaching memories is getting the opportunity to coach at the Berkshire Soccer Academy where I gained a ton of knowledge working with coaches from all over the world including coaching alongside legends Mia Hamm, Kristine Lily, and Tisha Venturini.
